How a ring search works
The search starts with the likely loss point and the route you took. On suitable sand, the area can be divided into manageable strips, with overlapping detector sweeps so gaps are less likely to be missed.
In shallow water or underwater, the search method depends on access, water movement and conditions. A detector signal identifies something to investigate; it does not establish ownership or guarantee it is your ring.
Before you send the enquiry
Describe the metal, colour, size, stones and any engraving. An approximate time and a description of what you were doing can help distinguish a likely loss point from a much larger area.
If safe, note a fixed landmark and save a Maps pin. Tell Frosty whether the ring was lost in dry sand, wet sand, surf or deeper water.
